Message From The East

Brethren:

We have reached the half way point in our 2008 Masonic year and we should be proud of what our Lodge has accomplished thus far.  We have had good turnout at our meetings, membership is increasing via new candidates, Masons who have petitioned our Lodge for plural membership, and long standing who have returned to St. John's Lodge.  Visitors to our Lodge have expressed their gratitude and complimented our hospitality.  Also many of our members, both long standing and new, have participated in Masonic Ritual and on Degree Teams.  I applaud you for your efforts and thank you for your commitment and dedication to Freemasonry and our Lodge.

Charity is one of the many aspects of our work in Freemasonry and we have a great opportunity to share a part of our bounty with others less fortunate.  Our Brother, Lee Lavinson has appealed to us to donate "gently used" men's clothing to be given to St. John's Hospice, 1221 Race Street.  Items to be considered: shirts, pants, coats, shoes, socks, BVDs etc.  We will be collecting these items at our June '08 stated meeting.  Make your wives & significant others happy by purging your wardrobe of those items that have "shrunk in the closet" or are slightly out dated.  Remember it is for a good cause and it's easy on the wallet.

Lastly, it is my assumption that our Lodge will go dark for July and August, as is our custom.   I want  to wish  you and your families a safe and fun filled summer season.  Keep in touch with each other.

Until we meet again in September to resume our labors, may the Great Architect of the Universe guide and keep you.

Fraternally,

Harry R. Carter III
Worshipful Master
